With high-powered firearms and high-flying ninja stunts, these sure aren’t your daddy’s sports shows. But we’re betting he’d enjoy Top Shot (Tuesday, 10/9c, History Channel) and Jump City: Seattle (Tuesday, 8/7c, G4), too. Last week, History premiered Season 2 of its direct hit Top Shot, which challenges two teams of marksmen and women to pepper targets using a variety of weapons, from bows and arrows to fully automatics. “The cool factor goes through the roof whenever you bring out a Prohibition Era Tommy gun,” says host (and Survivor alum) Colby Donaldson. Tonight’s contest: “The teams have to maintain composure and focus while paintballs are whizzing over their heads,” he says.
The AK-47 is used in a challenge; teams face an obstacle course of mud pits, barbed wire and exploding mortars; and the classic friend-or-foe scenario is used in an elimination challenge. The third-season opener begins with a shoot-off between pairs of contestants with what some believe is the most powerful hand gun in history. Also: an elimination challenge in which two contestants shoot while bouncing up and down in a stagecoach. Will be aired: Tuesday August 09th, 2011
Previous Episode :In the second-season finale, the winner is chosen from the final four contestants who face their last challenges.
Shooting from a moving jeep and hanging from a 125-foot crane are among the challenges. Shots from unstable platforms are attempted, and the marksmen get help from Iain Harrison, the Season 1 winner.
